Letter on March 24, 2020

Dear BBC Family,

We pray this finds you well during these uncertain times. The Covid-19 pandemic has presented many challenges to each and every one of us. BBC is working hard to adapt to the rapidly changing environment. We care deeply about each one of you and want to do our best to stay connected and pray for one another in the days to come.

As you may know by now, Governor Whitmer has issued a "shelter in place" directive as of midnight, Monday, March 23rd.

That being said, both Kim and Cheryl will be working from home until further notice. Please continue to contact us at krobertson@biblebaptisttc.com, or you may call us accordingly from 9am - 4pm on the days listed below. Of course, we will also accept calls "after hours" in case of time sensitive issues and requests.

Monday - Wednesday - contact Kim Robertson @ 276-0311

Thursday and Friday - contact Cheryl Johnson @ 946-7102

Saturday and Sunday feel free to contact either of us.

Please continue to look after your friends and neighbors and meet needs as you are able. Email or call us if you have knowledge of a need that we may be able to assist with.

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Letter on March 14, 2020

Dear Church Family,

The Elders met on Saturday morning to pray and discuss how our ministries should look until April 5th. We desire to continue to shepherd and watch over the well being and the spiritual condition of each person who attends BBC. We were reminded by Pastor Joel in Isaiah 12 of God being our strength, joy, and salvation no matter our circumstances.

In that day you will say:

“I will praise you, Lord.

    Although you were angry with me,

your anger has turned away

    and you have comforted me.

2 Surely God is my salvation;

    I will trust and not be afraid.

The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense;

    He has become my salvation.” - Isaiah 12:1-2

With this understanding we consider it wise to cancel all Wednesday night activities (Awana, Life Student Ministry, and Adult Bible Study) along with the weekend service until April 5th.

Here is what this means.

There will be an audio of the sermon each Sunday for you to listen along with sermon notes to follow along with. This will be posted on the church website, https://biblebaptisttc.com/sermons, on the church Facebook page, ttps://www.facebook.com/Bible-Baptist-Church-98485866712, and sent out on the prayer chain.

Small Groups will be provided for all church members to help you stay connected with each other. Please reconnect with your small group that you are a part of or the one you were a part of in September during this time. Please use wisdom and discretion in meeting with others.

The Elders and Ministry leaders will be contacting you to share this information and let you know we are here to help you. Please call the church office, 231-947-0660, or call your elder as specified in the front page of the church directory if you have any needs or concerns. We want to be more connected during this time, not less.

Lastly, The church is NOT closed. Church office hours will continue as normal and our doors are always open. The Pastors are here to help, counsel, or visit anyone who has need. We will stay healthy and take necessary precautions but continue to shepherd the flock of God.

President Trump has called on Americans to pray tomorrow for our world, nation, leaders, and those who are sick. Let us take up this call and pray earnestly to our God who is our Strength, Joy, and Salvation!

May God continue to watch over each one of you,

Pastor Joel, Pastor Dan and the Elders of BBC

March 13, 2020 Update

Dear church family,

As you may know by now, the situation with the coronavirus (COVID-19) has been evolving quickly over the last few days and hours, and we have been monitoring the situation so as to make wise and Spirit-led decisions regarding our meetings and services here at BBC. With our desire and willingness to demonstrate love and care for the Traverse City community, and the issuing of Governor Whitmer’s Executive Order regarding public meetings, we are suspending all weekend worship services and activities beginning this Sunday, March 15 through Sunday, April 5th. The pastoral staff will continue to post weekly sermons and outlines on our website and we encourage you to use them with your family and small group in lieu of our weekly gatherings at our church campus. The elders will be meeting to make determinations regarding other program schedules. Because this situation is fluid and changes regularly, we will use our Facebook page, church Website, and church prayer chain to communicate with you as the situation develops. As you have been so gracious in the past, we encourage you to continue your faithful support of the ministry through your gifts which can be mailed to the church or dropped off at the church office.

In all of this, please be reminded that our hope and trust is in the Lord, and fix your eyes on Him, not your circumstances. “… for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. (2 Tim 1:7)

Please continue to pray for those who have been affected by the virus and their families. Let’s see this as an opportunity to minister the love, grace, and truth of Christ to a world who needs it. God Bless!

Pastor Joel
